I have one of those! Got it on clearance after Sega killed it. Also many games (some not pirated!)

My favorite thing about it is that it is pretty much exactly twice the size of my 360's power brick (the Dreamcast of course uses an internal power supply).

Yeah, I had tons of fun on the Dreamcast. Good stuff. The controllers were a bit small, though, and I always ended up with cramped hands after hours of play.

it’s kind of amazing to me. The Genesis was the console to beat back when it was current, but then Sega totally screwed the pooch right into irrelevance.

of course, I had a TurboGrafx 16 so I’ve no place to talk.

The Dreamcast was a pretty good system, it’s always been a bit surprising to me that is didn’t sell better (IIRC, it did sell roughly as well as the Saturn, but that wasn’t enough to keep it afloat, especially with the PS2 and xbox around the corner).

They never seemed small to me? Like they seemed a lot bigger than the PS2 controller (though not as big as the Duke of course). The grips were pretty narrow, and a bit angular though, so they didn’t fit quite as well in your hands:

Yeah, I was talking about the grips specifically. The bulges are too narrow, so my fingers would cramp up. Otherwise, they were pretty good.

And then when Microsoft built the first xbox, they took this basic design and went too far in the opposite direction with their “Duke” controller.

Ergonomically it was superb, but kinda on the chunky side!

Cool! Still have mine in a box somewhere. Loved that F355 racing game, with the brake discs glowing orange whilst slowing down. THPS2 was the best, and I still listen to the soundtrack from that game to this day.

I tried to replace the main memory battery a few years back, but it didn’t go according to plan and never seemed to work. Oh well; it’s not like I’m going to be doing any marathon gaming on this thing.

Go and get the Shenmue games, the Sonic Adventure series, Skies of Arcadia etc.
